Abstract

Public libraries in Nassau suffer a great many problems all fairly much due to a lack of funds, a lack of space and a lack of trained personnel. Public libraries in the Family Islands, those that are still functioning, do so with great difficulty. It is clear that if The Bahamas wishes to enjoy a good, useful library service which, because of the large youth population and the country's status as a developing nation, is necessary, then steps must be taken on a national level to ensure that this library service becomes a reality.
